Is everything you make really 100% natural?

Yes! I only use the highest quality, nutrient-dense, plant-powered carrier oils, butters + essential oils to craft all products.

Do you test on animals?

Never! All products are tested in my own personal skincare ritual first, then my friends and family. Once we feel confident with the product, we share it with you :)

Where do you source your ingredients from?

All ingredients are purveyed from different countries around the world, including the U.S.

To be able to offer almost 100% organic + natural products, it requires looking far and wide for the best possible product that is both native to a specific region + ethically wildcrafted and harvested.

In the future, I hope to add more locally wildcrafted + grown plants in seasonal products.

Are your ingredients 100% organic?

Most ingredients are indeed 100% USDA organic.

The ingredient list on every product denotes which ingredients are organic with an asterisk (*). Any ingredients not 100% USDA organic are naturally derived in an ethical way.

Why small batch?

All lagom body co. products are made in small batches. This allows for me to provide you with the highest + freshest quality of plant-powered skincare.

Additionally, this means LBC products are not filled with unnatural preservatives that can upset your skin. Instead, our products are filled with living ingredients to provide you with the purest, happiest skincare experience.

Do you use any preservatives?

Technically, no. At this time, LBC products include an all-natural source of preservatives: vitamin E.

Vitamin E helps slow the rancidity of plant-powered oils because of its antioxidant power which doubles for keeping your skin healthy. Most of our products include essential oils + extremely shelf-stable carrier oils that also provide a preserving effect to our products, inhibiting the growth of bacteria.

For example, LBC facial oils include vitamin E + essential oils and LBC facial tonics include hydrosols, witch hazel extract, essential oils, and vegetable glycerine -- all are known to inhibit bacteria + microorganism growth, making them naturally preserved based on their formulation.

What is the shelf life of LBC products?

All our facial oils + mists should be used within 6 - 12 months and always stored in a dark, cool place out of direct sunlight. LBC products include extremely shelf-stable oils like jojoba and meadowfoam seed and I use vitamin E (tocopherol) to keep products fresher, longer.

If you find that your product isn't at the freshest point possible, please contact me so I can make it right.

What does ‘lagom’ mean?

Lagom means not too much, not too little: just the right amount in Swedish. The golden mean, if you will. I felt it expressed the minimal + conscious values of my skincare products. Read more about the lagom story here.

Where are you located?

LBC is located in Vancouver, Washington, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. All products are handcrafted in my small studio + apothecary. I operate all aspects of LBC from sourcing ingredients, creating formulas + crafting products, labeling, marketing, packaging, and social media.

All-natural skincare products haven’t worked for me in the past. How do iI know if lagom body co. products will work for me?

If an all-natural skincare product hasn’t worked for you in the past, there are countless reasons why this may be the case. Here are some I've discovered through talking with customers:

  • The product included synthetic ingredients. Sometimes even the most well-meaning all-natural skincare companies add synthetic ingredients and use the term all-natural in misleading + dishonest ways. LBC products are created out of our highest value of integrity and are truly all-natural, with every single ingredient coming directly from a plant.
  • The elements of the product weren’t right for your skin type. Finding the right skincare product for you means having an honest relationship with your skin. Is your skin typically oily? Then you most likely need to use a tonifying oil. Is your skin typically dry? Then you need to use an oil that deeply moisturizes. If you use a product for the wrong skin type, it won’t work to it’s max effectiveness for you and your skin.
  • The ‘all natural’ skincare product included preservatives. If you typically buy a product from mainstream stores, they will have a preservative that can bother your skin. This isn’t typical for every store, but if you have more sensitive skin, this may be something you experience, causing irritation.

In the instance that you use one of our products and find it doesn’t work, we suggest continuing use of the product for at least one month. If you are transitioning to facial oils + all natural products for the first time ever, your skin might go through a transition phase, pushing impurities to the surface. This is usually transitional and improves with time + continued use of all-natural products.

Remember: using all-natural products means adopting the elements of nature: patience + acceptance. Work with your body, not against it! Tap + tune into your body and you will find your brilliant glow.

Tap + tune into your body and you will find your brilliant glow.

Why can’t I pronounce some of the ingredients in your products?

We've all heard that ‘if you can’t pronounce it, don’t put it on your body’ and while I mostly agree with this, most all-natural skincare products will (or should) give you both the common name + the Latin name. lagom body co. products will give you the common name first - always - with the Latin name in parenthesis. Learning the Latin name empowers you and helps you translate some of the products you are already using.

If your products are plant-based, can I use them in cooking?

While all our products are totally plant-powered, they are not edible + are for cosmetic use only. There are multiple reasons for this.

First, although some oils are edible, like coconut oil and olive oil, most of our products include jojoba oil which is not an oil and in fact a plant wax (and one of the most well-known, well-loved plant oils out there). Don’t let that scare you, though! They are effective at nurturing and moisturizing the skin, but shouldn’t be taken internally.

Additionally, most LBC products include essential oils. Essential oils are a distilled version of the oils you find within the petals, leaves, and other matter within a plant and are very potent and should be respected. For example, it takes 10,000 lbs of rose petals to distill one pound of oil

For this reason, essential oils should only ever be taken internally under the guidance of an experienced herbalist or aromatherapist.

Are all products plant-based + vegan?

Yes, at this time all our products are 100% plant-based + vegan except LBC balms.

Every product page includes a full list of every ingredient in our products and states whether or not the product is vegan, so you can verify what you’re putting on your skin.

Why do you give back to social good organizations and nonprofits?

With every purchase, we donate $1 to a social good organization that supports women. You can track our Giving Partner program by visiting our giving page.
