Sugar is a preferred exfoliant compared to salt as salt dries out the skin where sugar draws moisture in. I love DIY sugar scrubs when my skin is feeling dry and rough—or, if I'm just feeling like I need a little self-care time. This sugar scrub is super simple and delightful.
What you need + directions
Supplies
- Sugar
- Olive oil or avocado oil
- A few drops of essential oil of choice (optional)
- To make it super luxurious, you can also add in lavender buds, ground oats for more soothing and moisturizing properties, or flower essences.
Directions
- Measure half a cup of sugar into a bowl and add enough olive oil to create a paste. You will use less oil than sugar so slowly add the oil and mix with a spoon to combine.
- Add a 4-5 drops of essential oil into your scrub and mix.
Application
To apply, step into your shower or tub and massage the sugar scrub from your extremities towards your heart. Turn the shower on to rinse away the sugar.
